Catapult Impact

The opportunities afforded by the Catapult in terms of raising our profile in front of prominent people within the industry and Government have been invaluable.

Impact

  • Grown to £2m revenue in four years.
  • Increased number of employees from 4 to 23 since Catapult first met Rezatec.
  • Rezatec raised over £1m in private equity funding in 2016.
  • New customers include Scottish Water, Southern Water and Defra.
  • Rezatec products are being used by half of all UK water companies and starting to gain traction in the USA, and the company won ‘Most Innovative Technology’ category at Utility Week Live 2017.

How has the Catapult helped?

  • Opened export opportunities: Through a Foreign & Commonwealth Office funded collaborative project, Rezatec gained significant insight into agricultural value chains in Latin America and developed a network of potential collaborators in Colombia, Peru and Paraguay. Rezatec also had the opportunity to attend SpaceCom2015 in Houston as part of a Catapult delegation.
  • Increased UK visibility to industry & customers: The Catapult regularly invites Rezatec to participate and speak at conferences and other events including: “From Satellite to Soil” organised by the Royal Society in July 2016 as well as providing opportunities to meet a number of senior UK dignitaries and politicians including Liz Truss, Vince Cable, Nick Clegg, David Willetts and Prince Andrew. In 2015, Catapult also put Rezatec forward to attend a Technology reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by the Queen and Prince Philip.
  • Increased University connections: Rezatec hosted two interns through the Space Placements in Industry (SPIN) programme.

Rezatec is based alongside the Catapult in Harwell and has significantly benefitted from being in the same building. The opportunities afforded by the Catapult in terms of raising our profile in front of prominent people within the industry and Government have been invaluable. They have invited us to events and allowed us to showcase ourselves, which has been brilliant. We use the Catapult’s cloud-based infrastructure (CEMS) to help manage the challenges of working with Big Data. We don’t have that kind of capacity internally but we needed some way of storing, processing and delivering our products, so we chose to use the virtual machines within CEMS. It’s been really useful to have it on-site here.

– Phillip Briscoe, Chief Operating Officer
