Defra, in collaboration with the Satellite Applications Catapult and other partners, is pleased to be holding an innovation event on Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) inspections and data.
Inspections for CAP cover many areas, from animal and crop inspections in the field, to inspections on capital and environmental projects, to ensure that we are meeting our obligations for the use of European Commission CAP funding.
The event will explore ways of reducing the number and burden of physical farm inspections associated with delivery of the CAP in England, whilst ensuring we continue to fulfil our EU obligations. It aims to bring together representatives from Government, research and advisory bodies and industry in the Earth Observation, digital and data solutions and enabling technology fields to help Defra identify new data and technologies that could be used by inspectors as alternatives to physically visiting a farm.
Policy and delivery challenges currently faced in reducing the number and burden of physical CAP inspections will be outlined through a series of presentations and discussion. This will be followed by an open session inviting contributions and pitches for ideas about new technologies and data sources that could be used to overcome them.
Registration is now full. If you wish to speak to someone about possible late registration, please email: Julie.Faria@defra.gsi.gov.uk
