The Satellite Applications Catapult, alongside the Joint Nautical Archaeology Policy Committee (JNAPC), are holding a workshop to identify the UK coastal monitoring needs of a wide range of organisations with particular emphasis on protecting heritage sites, safety and security of the United Kingdom coastline.
The workshop will examine the threat to historic merchant vessels and Royal Navy wrecks, review recent enforcement actions, examine the enforcement needs of a number of UK agencies, and then consider how satellite applications can bring solutions to monitoring and enforcement.
The objectives of the workshop will be to:
1) Identify if there are common requirements for coastal and marine monitoring information from disparate organisations such as heritage agencies, government departments, maritime agencies, fishing interests, policing authorities, border controls, museums, diving and archaeological organisations.
2) Identify a route to developing the appropriate systems to deliver a shared information platform, including satellite capabilities, for the benefit of multiple stakeholders.
3) Identify funding sources to develop a pilot programme.
Please note: This is a free event and attendance is by invitation only.
The final agenda will be shared towards the end of February.
