Defence Space Conference 2018

This May, the Ministry of Defence will host the very first Defence Space Conference, in partnership with the Air Power Association. This two-day event will bring together leaders in the military, civil and industry space spheres to articulate the MOD’s strategic intent for the space domain and discuss how UK government can work with international and commercial partners to achieve this goal.

Day one of the conference will focus on current MOD activities in space, with speeches and panels focusing on topics from international collaboration to Satellite Communications and domain perspectives. Day two will then look into the future, focusing on science and technology opportunities for MOD and how these might contribute to affordable, sustainable defence capabilities. Sessions will focus on a wide range of space-related innovations, from artificial intelligence, debris removal and earth observation, to launch capabilities and in-orbit servicing.

For more information, please click here to visit the event website.

Our Involvement

Our CTO, Paul Febvre, will be speaking on day 2 of the event, during the What’s Next for Space session. This panel will draw on civil and military perspectives to explore how Defence can move towards this vision of space; discussing the opportunities, challenges, risks and questions that will be encountered along the way. The panel will also offer a Q&A opportunity for audience members to ask speakers about a variety of space applications across the civil and military sectors.
