How can satellite technology help support business sustainability?

24th February - 10:00AM - 11:45AM

Join us to find out how satellite technology and geospatial intelligence can be used by businesses to help them progress on their sustainability goals. Also hear about ways space-tech and green-tech could be integrated to provide new solutions for sustainable businesses.

Satellite technology and data are enabling stakeholders from across government, NGOs and commercial sectors to monitor and measure their assets remotely, across vast landscapes leading to more efficient and sustainable operations.  They provide independent evidence that can be used for transparent reporting on environmental practices and impact and allow organisations to demonstrate to their investors, customers, and employees that they are delivering their sustainable development commitments.

In this online event, we will start with an outline of some of the key challenges sustainable businesses face from experts in this field, Bioregional.  We will then explain the capabilities of satellite technology for business sustainability, including examples of how satellite tech is being used in this sector today.

We hope these presentations will fire some lightbulbs and get the audience thinking about ways that space and green-tech companies can work together to address some of the key cross-industry challenges and themes emerging across the business sustainability landscape today.

Participants will then have a chance to join an interactive break-out brainstorming session, to discuss and explore the range of opportunities presented.

Who should attend? This event is aimed at commercial sustainability experts/consultants, space sector SMEs, green-tech and cleantech SMEs, and large sustainable businesses, including corporates with sustainability goals.

Why attend? This event is part of a broader initiative to explore the use of ‘Satellites for Corporate Sustainability’.  This event is meant to be the beginning of an exciting journey, introducing our first topic on how satellite technology can support sustainable businesses. It will be followed by a more tailored approach, doing deep-dive workshops with particular corporate companies to explore their specific challenge areas and see how an integrated approach to satellite-tech can emerge to solve these challenges on a global scale.

Satellite Applications Catapult is a not-for-profit, part government funded technology and innovation company helping UK markets harness the potential of satellite technology and data and bringing multi-disciplinary teams together to generate ideas and solutions in an open innovation environment.

The event is co-hosted by Oxfordshire Greentech, and sister organisation Cambridge Cleantech, the business networks supporting the growth of the low-carbon sectors in Oxfordshire and Cambridge. They connect innovators, corporates, academics, SMEs and investors for a smarter, more sustainable future.

Bioregional is a not-for-profit business sustainability consultancy, supporting businesses, including retailers, to create sustainable products and services and helping major developers create pioneering eco-communities, based on their award winning One Planet Living® ethos and framework.
