Our next Coffee Morning on the 18 September will begin at 10am and will take place in the Satellite Applications Catapult building in the Saturn room. We will be joined by Howard Farbrother, Director at Pragmatex Ltd. If you’d like to attend, please register for the event and we’ll see you there.
Pragmatex is a management consultancy, specialising in innovation and route to market services for intelligent mobility and rail.
Howard firmly believes his early career as a systems engineer in defence has heavily contributed to his inability to get away from technology-based sectors. Despite a stint in sports marketing and ill-timed forays into start-ups, Howard has spent a significant amount of time focused on innovation in transport, and rail in particular. Most recently working at the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) running a £50m government programme attempting to stimulate innovation in rail, and before that, brokering capabilities for the CPC’s forerunner, the Transport Systems Catapult.
Howard will be talking about the Catapult’s Market Challenge Team and its activities attempting to decipher the rail industry and its challenges. He will give his observations on current and future challenges, including why busy tracks are empty, why tickets are still made of paper, and where the MCT team believe space technology just might be able to make a difference. Please come along and enjoy!
