The Future AI and Robotics for Space (FAIR-SPACE) Hub brings together leading experts from academia, industry and governments, and aims at pushing the boundary of AI robotics for future space utilization and exploration. In the immediate term, the Hub will help advance knowledge and technologies in orbital manipulation, extra-terrestrial vehicles, and robotic support for astronaut missions. These directly address technical priorities in the space sector worldwide. In the long term, the Hub will help transfer the field to a new era by achieving long-lived robotic operations in space.
Ann is the Partnership Manager at the Hub and is keen to promote collaboration between the hub, industry and academia wherever possible. This includes a number of opportunities that include funding for university innovation projects, funding to provide access to facilities at the Hub Labs, funding to support secondments and placements, as well as the Ambassador programme.

The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) is an intergovernmental partnership which works to improve the availability access and use of Earth Observations (EO) globally, primarily targeted at the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Paris Climate Agreement and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
GEO Week is a combined Plenary Meeting and Ministerial Summit being hosted in Canberra, Australia, 4-9 November 2019. A new feature at this event is an Industry Track. This aims to strengthen GEO’s links with industry and recognise the key role of the commercial sector in creating the underlying EO products and services. The industry track program will explore key issues that impact both the global EO sector and the broader areas that relate to this activity such as big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Another new feature of GEO this year is the GEO Associates category of membership which allows commercial and non-governmental, not-for-profit and civil society organisations to join governments and international organisations as official collaborators of GEO. The aim of this is to broaden and diversify GEO’s member base.
Defra are the UK policy lead for GEO and are keen to learn more about appetite for involvement in both GEO week and GEO in general from industrial and academic sectors. We derive location-specific assessments of environmental, social and governance risk exposure for large fixed-capital assets. OxEO derives insight by the distributed downscaling of a massive corpus of remote sensing imagery. We develop forward-looking perspectives on risk using the best available science applied to observed data covering relevant climate and development scenarios. OxEO’s founders are members of the University of Oxford. Our team is expanding to include climate modellers, geospatial scientists and software developers. The company is part of ESA BIC UK.

Lobelia Earth, isardSAT’s climate services unit, uses Earth Observation data and climate projections for the assessment of vulnerabilities, risks and opportunities associated to climate scenarios for each particular case and region of interest. We work on monitoring, forecasting and planning, often from open and free data acquired by European satellites under the Copernicus programme. Lobelia Earth also has a special interest in working on air quality, hydrology and coastal erosion, all using Earth Observation data.
