Workshop Aim

DMCii is leading a programme of work to develop a market analysis to identify key growth opportunities for satellite technologies for Disaster Management, as part of the UK’s Space Innovation and Growth Strategy (IGS).

We are seeking expert input from the satellite and disaster sectors to understand the opportunities and challenges in this market.  This workshop will help to drive a market report for the IGS on Disaster Management using Satellite Technologies. The aim will be to look at how UK businesses can expand in this sector.
The analysis will explore the UK’s drivers for growth, current capability, existing and future demand, current technology and future requirements, and identify barriers to growth.  The workshop will consider satellite Earth observation, communications and navigation applications for disaster management, with a potentially global reach, and across the whole disaster management cycle: preparedness, response, recovery and reconstruction.  This workshop will take the form of a targeted discussion around the key market questions.
As outputs from this analysis, a roadmap and recommendations will accompany the market report, identifying actions to be taken by Government, Industry, Academia and the Catapult to ensure disaster management using satellite technologies develops in to a substantial market by 2030.
