The growth in global trade continues to increase the complexity of multimodal transport logistics. Inefficiencies in the transport system cause lost revenue, spoiled goods and also has a negative impact on the environment.
Many organisations have recognised that even minor improvements in the integration of transport logistics will have multiple benefits to stakeholders operating in the freight and transport sectors. A wide variety of projects have been funded by organisations such as the European Commission and the European Space Agency (ESA). This workshop will outline some of these projects and identify lessons learnt and investigate how projects can be evolved to provide sustainable benefits to international industry.
The discussion and findings of the workshop will also inform ESA in developing future transport programmes and help shape funding opportunities that reflect the needs of the integrated transport logistics community.
