Background

Sensor City and the Satellite Applications Catapult are hosting a joint workshop that aims to showcase the landscape and opportunities for the sensor community within the vibrant UK space industry.

The workshop will begin with presentations showing the opportunities for collaborations between the sensor and space communities, displaying how sensors can be integrated with satellite-based Internet of Things solutions, as well as the current UK In-Orbit Demonstration landscape.

The workshop will provide information on local space networks and funding opportunities available for sensor technologies within the space industry, and we will hear from individuals from both sectors who will discuss problems and solutions from their current areas of work.

Delegates are invited to also attend an interactive ‘mission building’ activity in the afternoon. This will explore the components and considerations required to deliver a space mission and will look at how sensor technologies are incorporated into in-orbit service and technology demonstration missions.

As a precursor to this activity, we will be running a webinar on Monday 14 July to give delegates more information on the In-Orbit Demonstration programme and the potential opportunities for sensors in space. If you would like to join this webinar please click here to register. If you register for the workshop and webinar below, you do not need to register for the webinar separately.

Objectives

The aims of this workshop are to:

  1. Introduce the UK space industry to the sensor community
  2. Highlight key opportunities for funding and collaboration within the space community
  3. Present activities related to both satellite based Internet of Things (IoT) and In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD), and highlight how companies can get involved
  4. Provide networking opportunities between sensor technology companies and space-related companies interested in innovative new sensor capabilities

Agenda

The agenda will be made available shortly

1:1 Meetings

We will be hosting 1:1 meetings at the end of the workshop with the aim of encouraging discussions of opportunities/collaborations between delegates. Please indicate on the registration form if you would like to take part in this opportunity, and what type of company you would like to meet with.
