Space North East Cascade and Network – October

Thursday 29 October 2020, 10am - 11:30am

This will be an opportunity for everyone who are involved in the sector in the region to catch up on some of the latest space news, initiatives and events nationally and regionally, and also to network. The plan is to physically meet once it is safe to do so, but we will be holding these sessions online for the time being.

To be held on the last Thursday of every month, these will usually be one to 1.5 hour sessions.

Our local spotlight this month is Pete Johnson, CEO of M-Connected, a local company that has just announced a major ESA-funded project at Kielder Reservoir in partnership with Inmarsat.

Programme for this session (approximate times):

10:00 Welcome and introductions

10:05 Cascade – information updates from the NE Satellite Applications Centre of Excellence, and Paul Bhatia from ESA Business Applications

10:20 Creating value in the space ecosystem: We have witnessed incredible advances in the space industry and in the use of space and space enabled systems. However, certain segments of space can still be a financially risky endeavour. This talk will explore some of the factors that can improve the viability of space businesses and lead to the stimulation of new sustainable missions, applications and services. Speaker: Anita Bernie, KISPE – Strategy and Business & Board Member of AAC Clyde Space

10:40 Local Spotlight: Pete Johnson, CEO of M-Connected

11:00 Networking

11:30 Close

Please register if you would like to join us, and you will receive a joining ZOOM link on the morning of the event. If you have any queries relating to this event, please email

We look forward to seeing you very soon!
