About the Speakers:
Sean McCarthy is responsible for coordinating the Market Intelligence and Maritime programmes of the Satellite Applications Catapult. The Catapult programmes include developing a Maritime Situational Awareness demonstration facility combining data from vessel AIS, satellite Earth Observation sources and other diverse forms of maritime information. In addition Sean is working with industry to demonstrate the effectiveness and potential of seamlessly joining SatComs with other forms of communications, especially for transport and mobile use.
Prior to the Catapult, Sean was in the Geospatial Intelligence team at QinetiQ, integrating satellite data and other forms of information for use in environmental and transport applications. Sean has a degree in Biology and Geography and has an interest in energy efficiency solutions and environmental monitoring by terrestrial and space based sensors.
John Bone is Chief Commercial Officer of RHEA Group, a global business which has a heritage rooted in space missions and producing bespoke engineering solutions, system development and security services that apply to our everyday lives.
He has 14 years’ experience in the space sector having held senior Director level positions in other global organisations such as Telespazio VEGA and CGI Space. John is also Chair of the North East Satellite Applications Centre of Excellence.
