The Satellite Applications Catapult is here to support growth through space and satellite applications. Here’s how we can we work with you to help realise the potential from space.
To help us, we need to know how we can help you. This will help us support you in the best way possible and help shape the things that we do so that they are most useful to the community and the growth of the space and satellite applications sector.
We want to hear about your ideas for new products and services that we might be able to support you to realise the potential from space
What do you need? How can the Catapult support you or the wider community with projects, programmes, facilities, business support, Knowledge Exchange, bids and anything else? By telling us what you need, we can support you and you will also influence our future activities.
If you want to tell us about your needs and/or ideas, please complete the idea submission form.
Once an idea is submitted, it will be reviewed by Catapult staff. You will hear within 10 working days whether your idea is something we can support.
Ideas can be specific or generic. These are some ways in which we can work with you, but even if your idea is still quite general, we can work with you to help evolve your thinking and realise your idea.
The Catapult can work with you to evolve and execute a project, which could be related to the development of a new business, product or service, or R&D on the path towards this. We can do paid work for you, work together to win collaborative funding, or work on behalf of the whole community. For example, we have worked with a local council to develop a new planning application that uses satellite data.
Programmes are our major area of activity. For example, our Maritime Programme was developed based upon requests from the community.
Facilities are Catapult assets that will be used by the community. For example, based on requests from the community, we developed the Climate and Environmental Monitoring from Space (CEMS) facility which is aimed at making Earth observation (EO) data more easily accessible.
Any facilities we consider developing, must be of clear benefit to the UK community. Your input will help to inform the development of new facilities, which are reviewed periodically.
The Catapult can work with you, either as lead or partner, towards collaborative funding opportunities. Examples might include European Space Agency (ESA), European Union (EU) or Innovate UK (formerly Technology Strategy Board, TSB) funding. If you have identified a bid or tender where you think there is a role for us, then complete the ideas submission form and we will quickly let you know if this is something we can support you with.
You can find out about selected open calls on our Opportunities page and read more about other funding opportunities on the Funding page.
We can facilitate workshops in order to engage new communities for satellite applications or to bring people together around a particular topic. If you have an idea for a workshop that would benefit from our involvement, then tell us by completing the ideas form. We will let you know as soon as possible if the suggested workshop will be possible and when it could be held.
