Overview

The Satellite Applications Catapult, in collaboration with Open Cosmos and with support from the UK Space Agency, is offering a new mission: IOD-6.

IOD-6 is a new opportunity to trial your service using a larger 6U CubeSat platform in a diverse range of orbits. You will be able to design, develop and launch your IOD mission within 18 months to help accelerate your satellite-based service to market faster.

What we are offering

  • A 6U CubeSat platform from Open Cosmos including assembly, integration and testing, spacecraft licencing, as well as 6 months of satellite operations
  • A launch opportunity

Who can apply?

Applications are welcome from individual companies or a consortium, but all proposals must clearly demonstrate the sustainable commercial potential of the product or service the mission is testing.

Applications from outside the UK are eligible, but the proposal must clearly demonstrate how the company will bring economic benefit to the UK.

The IOD programme is looking for commercial services and technologies in areas such as:

  • Climate applications
  • Agriculture and maritime
  • Environmental monitoring
  • Internet of things
  • Location-based services
  • Communications applications
  • Logistics and fleet management

The application timeline is as follows:

Friday 20 July Deadline to register your interest and complete a short summary of your proposed mission.
Friday 27 July Notification from IOD team for full proposal.
Friday 7 September Deadline for full proposal submission.
