Ruy Pinto joined Inmarsat in 1990 as a senior software engineer supporting the Inmarsat satellites. For the last 20 years, Ruy worked at Inmarsat in various technical and managerial roles. In 2000, Ruy became Director of Satellite Operations and Navigation with responsibility for control of the fleet of Inmarsat satellites and development and maintenance of all satellite control functionality. From 2009 to 2011, as Vice President of Satellite and Network Operations, he managed network and satellite operations, spectrum management and yield optimisation functions for the Inmarsat product portfolio plus navigation services. Ruy is currently the Group Chief Technology Officer for Inmarsat, responsible for operations engineering plus satellite and network operational functions. Ruy was also formerly Chairman of UKSpace, the UK Space industry trade association.
Previously, Ruy worked with VSAT data communication networks and data communications software as a project manager for the deployment of large scale VSAT networks. He has a background in electronics and satellite data communications having graduated in Electronics Engineering in 1981, followed by a post-graduate degree in Digital Telecommunications Systems.
