The Role

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the Catapult executive team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, and responsible for running the company’s day-to-day financing activities.

The CFO position is accountable for the administrative, financial and risk management performance of the company, including its control systems, reporting metrics, legal, HR, [security] and IT.

The role includes:

  1. Participating in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
  2. Assisting in formulating the company’s strategy and plans
  3. Monitoring and reporting against the company’s strategic & delivery plans
  4. Managing the company’s accounting, tax, legal, HR and IT teams
  5. Creating and controlling the company budget, costs and margin
  6. Overseeing investment in and maintenance of Catapult property and facilities
  7. Managing the effective separation of the Catapult trading subsidiary
  8. Understanding and mitigating financial elements of the company’s risks, including state aid, grant recognition and cashflow
  9. Ensuring that the company complies with all statutory, tax and financial requirements
  10. Supporting the maintenance and evolution of Catapult culture

Any other duties dependent on the needs of the business, which may occasionally require the attendance of events off-site or overseas.

About You

Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least 8+ years work experience at the required level, such as Finance Director or CFO
  • Effective team player with excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of budgeting sales, costs and project accounting.
  • Ability to lead, generate respect and trust from staff, executive management and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organisational skills.
  • Aptitude for open and collaborative working, and encouraging such a culture.
  • Significant experience in or knowledge of fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of the space sector would be an advantage.
