Calling all Financial Assistants! We need YOU to join our dynamic, forward thinking and motivated Finance team!

As part of a busy team of 5, you will be the primary finance interface between our customers, suppliers and colleagues. You will get to know all areas of the business and ensure financial processes are always adhered to. You will be the “go to” person for our team!

In return, we will give you all the support you need to flourish in your new role. We will empower you to work autonomously, to problem solve and make sure you always have the guidance and support you need either through mentoring, coaching or formal training. Whilst your direct role will be overseeing the transactional side of finance, you will be part of a small team and therefore you will have the opportunity to get exposure to all aspects of finance, including month end and business partnering.

This position will be perfect for you if you have some working experience in a similar role, possess a basic understanding of the transactional part of finance and are either part or fully qualified AAT accountant. You will also need to be proficient with excel including formulae, filtering, pivot tables and graphs. The role will be fast paced so the ability to multi-task, problems solve and using own initiative is key for success.

This is a permanent role directly within the Satellite Applications Catapult. We are based in Harwell with great public transport connections from all of Oxfordshire as well as London. What exactly would you be doing?

As part of your day, you would take ownership of:

  • Entering transactions accurately and promptly into the company’s accounting system (SAPbyDesign), such as purchase invoices and payments, sales invoices and customer receipts.
  • Assisting with raising purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Entering supplier payment runs into the company’s banking system.
  • Ensuring correct level of authorisation and approval of transactions.
  • Conducting regular bank reconciliations.
  • Conducting regular supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Undertaking credit control activities to ensure timely customer cash receipt.
  • Maintaining supplier and customer details on the accounting system.
  • Reviewing employee expenses against internal policy and processing reimbursements.
  • Monitoring the finance email inbox and dealing with internal and external queries.
  • Supporting the other members of the Finance team, particularly the management accountant.
  • Generally offering support and assistance to the Finance team and where appropriate to the wider Catapult family. We are a team and work as a team.
  • Very rarely may be required to attend events off site.
