Graphic Design Intern

Responsible to: Head of Marketing & Communications/Head of User Centre Design

Working Hours: 37.5h a week

Contract: Internship for 12 months

Holiday: 28 days per annum, plus statutory holidays.

The Role

This is a great opportunity for a someone looking for a career in graphic design, visual communication, or marketing. As an intern, you will gain firsthand experience in working in a fast-moving, innovative and creative environment. You will work with both the Marketing and Communications and the User Centred Design Teams, using your creative skills and enthusiasm to help create presentations, graphics, brands, and help turn fascinating and complex information into digestible bites of knowledge.

The role provides the opportunity to:

  • Develop presentations for senior staff that depict space data and technologies in applications on Earth
  • Work with the marketing team to develop new concepts for projects/products where a brand is required
  • Work with our external design agency to help develop the Catapult brand
  • Work with a variety of space based businesses to create graphic collateral
  • Work with the User Centred Design Team to support the visualisation of complex information

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative graphic designer who is willing to learn and develop their skills. A degree in graphic design is advantageous although other art and design qualifications will be considered. You will be a good communicator, be adaptable to change and willing to learn new skills. In return you will receive on-the-job experience in working in a fast moving, exciting and innovative organisation.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent IT skills, especially with graphic design and photo-editing software (adobe creative suite ideally)
  • Exceptional creativity and innovation
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • An understanding of the latest trends and their role within a commercial environment
  • Professional approach to time, costs and deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Passion for space, technology, and helping to make the world a better place!
