Location: Harwell, Oxfordshire

Responsible to: Chief Finance and Operations Officer

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract: Permenant, 3 month probation, 1 month notice

Holiday: 28 days per annum, plus statutory holidays.

The Role

You’ll be working with our HR Administrator and the Head of HR and your main responsibilities will include:

  • Management of the recruitment and onboarding process from approval to advertisement and interviews right through to offers and induction.
  • Monthly payroll and benefit management.
  • HR reporting including sickness/absence management, holiday recording etc
  • Managing ER issues (disciplinary, grievances, redundancies).
  • Giving day to day advice on the policies and procedures to staff and managers
  • Managing and maintaining all employee personnel files.
  • Promoting the company culture by organising annual Team Away Day’s, chairing the Culture Committee and planning events such as Brown Bags.
  • Project work to support new HR initiatives, policy/process change and service improvement.
  • Suggest better ways of doing things, whilst always understanding the fine balance between enabling agile and innovative working environment while complying with governance, due process and strong business ethics.
  • Working with the Head of HR to manage the personal development system, making sure its progressive, slick and motivating.
  • Acting as a culture champion demonstrating the company values, pioneering, agile, collaborative and entrepreneurial at all times, and with this in mind considering and suggesting better ways of doing things to provide an HR service that is effective and constantly exceeds expectations.

About You

Required Skills and Experience

  • HR Qualification, degree in HR, CPP, CIPD (or an ambition to become fully qualified)
  • Experience of working in a similar role within a busy, hands on department
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and drive the HR agenda
  • Evidence of leading implementation of HR policies, procedures, and interventions
  • Experience of providing HR administrative support in a busy and dynamic environment
  • Ability to exercise effective judgment, discretion, sensitivity, creativity to changing needs and situations.
  • Experience of producing accurate and complex employment/contractual documentation and correspondence
  • Demonstrate a commercial approach
  • Ability to think “outside the box” to create pragmatic solutions
