Location: Harwell, Oxfordshire

Responsible to: Head of Finance

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract: 6 month fixed-term

Holiday: 28 days per annum, plus statutory holidays.

The Role

The successful candidate will lead a multi-disciplined team to procure, install and commission specialist equipment within a pre-designated facility to support delivery of a specific range of industry led disruptive innovation projects.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Management of project selection process to capture end user requirements and develop portfolio of projects
  • Selection and procurement of specialist equipment based on analysis of end user project requirements
  • Establishing terms of use and preparing designated facility for equipment installation with partner organisations
  • Completing installation and commissioning of equipment ready for project use within exacting timescales
  • Working with industry to shape multi-faceted projects within an overall programme of work involving multiple teams, organisations ranging from academia, small/medium enterprises through to large multi-nationals
  • Managing budgets, issues, actions and risks
  • Managing, communicating and reporting programme progress to senior stakeholders

About You

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable and significant Project/Programme management experience with strong leadership
  • Comfortable and confident with engaging senior stakeholders to steer complex projects as a consortium prime
  • Experience of PRINCE2 or another Project/Programme Management methodology required (e.g. MSP)
  • Able to work with high level requirements to define scope and provide direction
  • Strong commercial acumen and able to work with complex stakeholder relationships
  • Strong budget management and reporting
  • Organised with an attention to detail but with the ability to step back and view the big picture
  • Enjoy solving problems and developing solutions
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to relocate or commute to Harwell

Desired Experience 

  • Experience managing IT/system/software development projects an advantage
