Location: Harwell, Oxfordshire

Responsible to: Project Lead

Working Hours: 37.5h a week

Contract: Fixed Term 6-12 months, 3 month probation and 1 month notice

Holiday: 28 days per annum, plus statutory holidays (prorated)

The Role

The intern will be a key member of the Systems Engineering team, and will need to have a strong interest in digital architectures for telecommunications for satellite and cellular networks. The ideal candidate will be able to perform analysis and modelling with the aid of computer simulations. The position will contribute to the system architecture design and documentation, build mathematical models, write simulation code and support the project team.

About You

Required Skills and Experience

  • Ability to build accurate mathematical models to characterise and simulate system performance for innovative concepts with the support of senior engineers.
  • Ability to perform technical analysis and produce technical reports.
  • Motivated, driven, fast learner, multi-disciplinary, able to work across domains
  • Basic knowledge of Satellite Communications Technology and Services key concepts for Space and Ground Segment.
  • Basic knowledge of Terminal Architecture and Functionality key concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of Network Engineering key concepts (IP, TCP/UDP, Routing, Switching, etc..).
  • Basic knowledge of System Engineering processes.
  • Software coding and Web Development Frameworks.

Desired experience

  • Matlab/Octave.

Academic background

  • Master’s Degree in Telecommunications & Electronics Engineering, Physics or similar field.
