Project Manager

Location: Harwell, Oxfordshire

Responsible to: Head of Project Management

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract: Permanent, 3 month probation and 1 month notice

Holiday: 28 days per annum, plus statutory holidays

The Role

The successful individual with work for the Head of Project Management and be a part of the project management team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and shaping multi-faceted projects involving multiple teams, organisations ranging from academia, small/Medium enterprises through to large multi-nationals
  • Leading the delivery of successful projects
  • Planning and estimating projects
  • Managing budgets, issues, actions and risks
  • Reporting and liaising with customer organisations including Innovate UK, UK Space Agency and ESA
  • Communicating and reporting project progress
  • Identifying opportunities to improve project processes from bids through to operations
  • Willingness to travel as required by projects (case by case)

About You

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic project manager with the drive to lead a project from ‘cradle to grave’, and the ambition to shape vague concepts into solid outputs that demonstrate ground breaking impact.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable and significant project management experience
  • Comfortable and confident with engaging senior stakeholders to steer complex projects
  • Experience of Prince2 or Agile or other Project Management methodology required
  • Able to work with high level requirements to define scope and provide direction
  • Proficient with MS Project (or equivalent)
  • Strong budget management and reporting
  • Organised with an attention to detail
  • Enjoy solving problems and developing solutions
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to relocate or commute to Harwell

Desired experience

  • Experience managing IT/system/software development projects an advantage
  • Second language advantageous
