Company Description: MeVitae is where space and recruitment technology meet. Companies suffer from bad hiring. Harvard Business School states that 80% of employee turnover (proportion of employees who leave an organisation over a set period) is due to bad hiring decisions. MeVitae is bringing order to the chaos of recruitment through applying technology up in space to recruitment to make better hiring decisions and solve the biggest recruitment problems of today and tomorrow.

Companies worldwide want to find the best candidates for a job, whilst reducing time and cost. Existing solutions are manual, use keyword matching or algorithms that are too general. But companies like Apple and Google need a faster, more-simple, unified solution that is unique to them, and the problems we are facing today are too complicated for a single human to solve. The entity that will solve the problem is the interaction of humans, space and machines working together to make an integrated intelligence. Through a powerful amalgamation of Big Data, space technology, artificial intelligence, and pattern recognition, we can make intelligent hiring decisions to find the best candidate for corporate firms.

MeVitae was co-founded by Riham Satti, a Neuroscientist and Biomedical Engineer, and Vivek Doraiswamy, a Computer Scientist and an Electronics & Communications Engineer, while at the University of Oxford. The board members are from Microsoft UK HQ and Oxford University, in addition to support from the European Space Agency and UKTI. The company originally identified a piece of  space technology that used an algorithm that could be incorporated into the design of their platform, this led to them joining the European Space Agency Business Incubation Centre.

Project Description: MeVitae is looking for that go-getter, all-star intern to join the strong team for the summer working independently and jointly in a vibrant start-up atmosphere. The mission of the candidate is to help build the first ever intelligent CV app that uses the background of our space algorithms.

The aim of the Digital CV is to collect data from a job applicant’s profile for analysis, whilst providing a private digital profile for candidates. Job seekers are able to build their own free, online and private Digital CV to showcase their educational qualifications, professional experiences, achievements and skills etc. acting as a career tracker on a Windows app. Furthermore, MeVitae’s software also helps job seekers apply to personalised jobs tailored to their Digital CV and right for them. This will be one of the first space-related CV apps in the world.

The candidate will receive valuable insight into the world of high-tech start-ups. By working closely with the co-founders, the successful new team member will receive mentoring and networks from the likes of Microsoft and Oxford University. Furthermore, if all goes well, there could be a possible future job position at MeVitae!

Applicant Specification:

The new intern will be part of an intimate and vibrant team, with a curiosity in space technology applied to non-space applications. He/she should have a sound interest and ability to learn or have a basic software programming knowledge of Windows 10, Visual Studio Express for Web, .NET and C#.

Target courses: The successful candidate should preferably be in the 3rd/4th year of their undergraduate degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
