Pixalytics Ltd is an independent consultancy company specialising in Earth observation. We combine cutting edge scientific knowledge with satellite and airborne data to provide answers to questions about our planet’s resources and behaviour. The underlying work includes developing algorithms and software, leading to both dataset quality control activities and end user applications.

Pixalytics has been developing downstream terrestrial applications linked to agriculture, flood mapping and landscape monitoring with input datasets including both optical and radar satellite imagery. The placement would aid in the further development of the software; enhancing the algorithms and extracting further information from the underlying data. The exact details would in part depend on the CV and personal interests of the chosen individual. Student Specification:

  • A numerate, scientific and/or computing degree
  • Programming: should have skills in languages such a python or IDL as writing code will be a key focus of the placement

The Nitty Gritty: Start week of the induction / first week of July, (Induction Day will be at Harwell on 27 June), £1,250 pcm
