Project Description: Driverless cars and their AI/ML algorithms that drive them require testing. Initial testing should be completed through simulation and a few driving simulators exist. Integrating these driving simulators with real world signals and sensors is vital to test the software and the hardware in the loop.
Challenge: To be able to drive the sensors, software and hardware that are required to be interfaced to a driving simulator. OpenDS is an open source driving simulator (https://www.opends.eu/). Integrating OpenDS and testing that the trajectory generated is smooth enough to drive a GNSS/Inertial simulator is a start in bringing a whole real world, real time driving simulator to life.
Requirements: Integrate the trajectory output of OpenDS to the trajectory input of SimGEN and test that the resulting GNSS path and Inertial outputs are consistent with the OpenDS simulation and produce continuous good quality motion to drive an inertial measurement unit in a smooth and continuous manner.
