NSL is the UK’s leading supplier of innovate solutions using Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technologies.  We specialise in applications that require either secure and/or safe position and navigation information.  This is typically for critical applications and markets, for instance that involve safety of life, national security, emergency services, or timing control of strategic computer networks and systems.

NSL is a small company with 22 employees.

Project Description

The project will be to assist with NSL’s use of GNSS for landslip and movement monitoring.  A GNSS sensor has been developed at sufficiently low cost to enable it to be used for the measurement to millimetre level of movements of land and infrastructure.  NSL are working on three initiatives that will improve the technology readiness level of the system.  The project will be to assist with these initiatives.  Work will include device configuration and factory acceptance testing, assist with installation (~100 units throughout the UK), processing of data and analysis of results.  The position will be office based but will also include field work.

Student Specification:

  • Suggested degree programme: Applicants need to be part-way through an undergraduate programme
  • Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Geomatics.

The Nitty Gritty: 8-week placement, starting on 27 June. (Induction Day will be at Harwell on 27 June), £1,500 pcm.
