Huduma Limited was founded in 2011 and has extensive business experience in IT and Telecommunications, providing business consultancy and technical project management services.

Project Description

We are involved with two emerging technology projects: (i) a European Space Agency (ESA) co-sponsored remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) Intelligent Parcel Delivery (IPD) project to investigate the commercial, technical and operational viability and to enable planning for a sustainable parcel service using autonomous air and ground vehicles; and (ii) UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK co-funded, connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV) i-Motors – Intelligent Mobility for Future Cities Transport Systems project.

This internship involves the business, marketing and finance aspects of the service. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of industry experienced engineers, developers and business consultants from our consortium partners based at Harwell and elsewhere in the UK/EU.

Student Specification

The intern will carry out market analysis and competitor benchmarking to provide information that will help refine the business plans and service models for the intelligent parcel delivery and mobility services. In addition, the intern will review and update marketing materials, develop case studies and web/social media content.

The successful candidate will be involved in business development, doing market research and collating business intelligence to discover which new products would be most successful in the current and future markets.

You will gather data and information on trends to understand our industry’s challenges and to identify new sales opportunities. You will also support the writing of various bids and proposals for co-funding and grants.

We are looking for a quick thinker, strong quantitative analytical skills and the ability to communicate confidently with people/stakeholders at all levels in an organisation.

Reporting to the Managing Director.  There will be opportunity to work on other projects and be involved in press and marketing events.

This internship is targeted at students (female/male) who have a strong interest in the Space industry, RPAS and CAV together with an awareness of IoT, M2M ecosystems. An international outlook is essential together with good interpersonal skills.  You also must be eligible to work in the UK.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Good interpersonal skills (decision making, proactive approach, negotiation, persuasion, ability to influence at all levels, organisational, effectively prioritise tasks, self-motivated, ability to work on own initiative and develop new skills)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including presentation skills, report and copy writing, editorial skills coupled with a keen eye for design and high levels of creativity.
  • Excellent analytical, research, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Excellent computer and technical skills and knowledge of report writing software, confident with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), iMindmap, Prezi, etc.
  • Experience creating website content, use of social media for marketing and business development.
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing, with a good understanding of the principles of digital marketing and using content to promote brands

Target degree courses:  Economics, Business Studies, Marketing, English, Geography, Operations, Accounting, Analytics.

The Nitty Gritty: 8-week fixed term contract to be agreed with successful candidate but nominally to start 29 June 2016. (Induction Day will be at Harwell on 27 June.) £1,250 pcm.
