Marketing and Business Planning to support new Earth Observation services (16/18)

Deimos Space UK Ltd is a fast growing subsidiary of Elecnor Deimos created in 2013 to address the UK and UK-export market for space systems, services and applications. Deimos Space has extensive experience in space activities; we are involved in the majority of European Space Agency programmes, including exploration, Earth observation, satellite navigation, launchers and human space flight. The successful candidate will work with our Business Development Director and alongside our lively team of experienced engineers and developers based at Harwell.

Activity:

Deimos is developing a range of Earth Observation applications using optical and Synthetic Aperture Radar data from commercial and public satellite systems.

The intern will carry out market analysis and competitor benchmarking to provide information that will help refine the business plans for various agriculture and urban monitoring applications. In addition the intern will review and update marketing flyers, develop case studies and web/social media content.

Student Specification:

The candidate should have an interest in the Space industry and the environment together with an awareness of remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems. An international outlook is essential together with good interpersonal skills.

The candidate should have some, but is not expected to have all, of the skills below:

  • Excellent analytical and research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Good problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Experience in Sales and Marketing
  • Experience of creating web site content
  • Experience in the use of social media for marketing and business development.
  • Awareness of Earth Observation technology and applications
  • Good Presentation skills
  • Computer literate and confident with excel, powerpoint, prezi etc.

Target degree courses:  Economics, Business Studies, Marketing, English, Geography

The Nitty Gritty: Work period to be agreed with successful candidate but nominally between 8 and 10 weeks to start in July 2016, with the SpIN student induction day to be held at Harwell on 27 June 2016.  Bursary of £300 per week.
