Company Description: Bird.i, one of the hottest space start-ups is looking to recruit a talented intern to visualise satellite imagery in real time and link it to other sources of geo-information. It curates the best of the world’s satellite, airborne and drone imagery to create an up-to-date view of our world that everyone can explore, anytime. The company is now looking to exploit this unprecedented amount of imagery and to integrate it with other geo-referenced APIs.

Project Description: The project will be to visualise Bird.i’s satellite imagery coverage and integrate it with existing common social networking APIs – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. and cloud-based service APIs – i.e. Zoopla, what3words etc. to produce applications that link these disparate services through their geo-location. There will be an expectation that the candidate researches and discovers other cloud-based APIs that use geo-location information.

Student Specification:

  • Web development (HTML5, CSS3)
  • Javascript frameworks – i.e. Angular/React/Backbone etc.
  • Experience in API integration (Zoopla, What3Words…)
  • Ability to work on their own and as a part of a team

The Nitty Gritty: Work period to be agreed with successful candidate but nominally to start 5 June 2017 for a duration of three months. £1,100 pcm.
