Systems/Web Developer (Ref 16/07)

Stevenson Astrosat is a rapidly growing multi-award winning space technologies and services company specialising in earth observation, satellite communications and hardware development. Our focus on commercial space services has allowed us to rapidly grow our team of in-house specialists who are constantly working on multiple end-user driven projects for a mixture of governmental and private sector clients.

The successful candidate will be a part of our engineering team, working on implementation of web-based interface for satellite-processed data. You will be joining a team of developers, therefore good communication skills are key, along with a passion for all things digital.

There may be some work involving interesting algorithm development for computer vision problems and 3D modelling.

Student Specification:

This internship is targeted at students from a computer science, computer systems engineering, electronics or information systems background. You also must be eligible to work in the UK.

Minimum requirements:

  • Good knowledge of Python
  • Experience in web development using Python web frameworks (e.g. Django)
  • Good knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • You can provide examples of your work (personal website/portfolio/github)
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Must have good organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Must have good problem solving and decision making skills.

Preferred additional requirements:

  • Experience with Linux, including shell scripting
  • Experience in GIS

The Nitty Gritty: 8-week fixed term contract to be agreed with successful candidate but nominally to start 29 June 2016. (Induction Day will be at Harwell on 27 June.) £1,250 pcm.
