Background

The Satellite Applications Catapult is leading a strategic area of activity on ‘Sustainable Development’, under our Government Services programme. We are actively working with UK and international partners on initiatives aimed at building resilience in developing countries, by:

  • Using satellite-enabled technologies to better address the increasing challenges from climate change, including natural disasters and impacts on food security.
  • Bringing together the full stakeholder community: Governments, UN, International organisations, NGOs, Industry, Academia, civil society etc.

What to expect

This two-day workshop is the inaugural event of the Catapult’s Sustainable Development strategic activity and is part of a wider effort to bring together the full stakeholder community responsible for the delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Attendees will include UK and international Governments, international organisations and cross-sector partnerships, NGOs and academia.

The event will present an opportunity to:

  • Showcase latest developments in the delivery of SDGs through satellite enabled services and solutions
  • Identify novel trends in measuring the SDG indicators and supporting policy decisions in sustainable development
  • Create new partnerships and long-lasting collaborations around well-defined user needs
  • Focus on country specific case studies and fit-for-purpose technical solutions that deliver real change and impact
