SoXSA Director wins Royal Society of Edinburgh award for outstanding research

12 February 2016 – Dr Malcolm Macdonald, Director of the Scottish Centre of Excellence in Satellite Applications, has won the Makdougall Brisbane Medal for his outstanding research at the Royal Society of Edinburgh Awards 2016.

Some of Scotland’s most exceptional academic talent is being recognised as the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) has revealed its 2016 Prizewinners. Dr Macdonald’s research into the development and application of space mission systems which challenges conventional ideas and advances new concepts in the exploration and exploitation in space was recognised as further developing the remit of the RSE which is to help advance learning and useful knowledge.

These awards are often received by individuals at the height of their discipline, as well as those who are showing great potential in the early stages of their career. Representing areas as diverse as particle physics, entrepreneurship and race equality, they highlight the vitality and scope of Scotland’s academic sector.
