The University of Exeter is seeking to recruit European Space Agency (ESA) Business Applications Regional Ambassador for SW England and South Wales. Initially a one year post to March 2021 there may be scope to extend the post should funding become available. Based at our Exeter campus the postholder would be expected to travel widely across the South West and South Wales.
ESA Business Applications (business.esa.int) is a programme established by ESA to support the development, implementation and pilot operations of space-based innovative and commercially sustainable services. The ESA Business Applications Regional Ambassador for SW England and South Wales will be responsible for business engagement and impact development for ESA Business Applications as one of 5 Regional Ambassadors in the UK.
The key role of the ESA Business Applications Regional Ambassador is to help to instigate new activities for ESA Business Applications, including: interfacing with regional institutions and networks; providing market intelligence; promoting ESA Business applications through event organisation; and raising awareness through supporting the ESA Business Applications website and creating a digital presence for the region.
We are seeking someone with experience of collaborating with industry and government partners; building relationships with key partners including corporate partners; identifying opportunities for impact and partnership development; and building external partnerships to develop proposals and support commercial development. Knowledge of the UK space sector would be highly desirable.
The Regional Ambassador will also develop and is responsible for associated long term strategic partnerships between ESA Business Applications, the South West Centre of Excellence in Satellite Applications, the University and regional stakeholders.
Reporting to the UK Ambassador Platform Network Coordinator and supported by the UK AP Business Developer the Regional Ambassador will actively seek out new regional customers/user communities and develop space-enabled businesses, services and applications.
