Project Description:

This 2-3 month placement will focus on exploiting space within the Smart, Connected and Conscious Cities agendas.  Specifically, the role will be working within a feasibility study to demonstrate the application of innovative downstream services using satellite data.  The successful applicant will be involved in optical image processing, data manipulation and Geographic Information Systems to create value-added products of urban green areas.  Starlab will provide training and support.

Student Specification:

  • A numerate and/or scientific degree with supporting computer skills
  • Knowledge of Remote Sensing and GIS desirable
  • Knowledge of a scripting language, such as Python, beneficial, but not compulsory
  • A quick learner, hard worker and team player

The Nitty Gritty:

Start week of the induction / first week of July (Induction Day will be at Harwell on Monday 26 June). Salary of £1,300 pcm (pro rata); details of placement length will be discussed with successful candidate, but will be a minimum of two months.
