A hospital of the past may be thought of as a physical building bound by walls and a roof. In bringing existing hospitals into the present, any new technology developments have been made to fit within the current environment meaning everything is an add-on as opposed to a fully integrated approach.
When thinking about hospitals of the future, they are being considered to form part of a healthcare ecosystem, interacting with other care providers, ambulances, pharmaceuticals, and others as one. Fundamentally, the most important aspect of the hospital of the future is the priority it puts on people: the staff such as clinicians, IT teams, porters and triage teams, the patients, and the visitors. Everyone wants the information they need to be immediately available, and this is something space technology can help with.
