Resilient Earth
Resilient Earth is working to embed space data into high growth markets such as nature finance, clean energy, and infrastructure, and by doing so is helping UK space companies to scale.
Missions overview
Over the past decade, the UK has become a global leader in turning space-enabled services into insight, combining advanced space infrastructure with strengths in artificial intelligence, geospatial science, and financial analytics.
This capability is increasingly critical as environmental risks move from abstract concerns to measurable obligations. Flood risk must be quantified for insurance, emissions verified for compliance, biodiversity tracked for regulation, and energy systems monitored in real time as they transition to renewables. Tightening reporting standards are making trusted, audit-ready environmental intelligence as essential as financial data.
Despite this strong technical base, many UK companies struggle to scale beyond pilots. Procurement barriers, fragmented markets, and slow adoption cycles mean promising businesses often fail to secure long-term customers or international growth. Resilient Earth addresses this gap by helping companies move from demonstration to revenue, supporting businesses to secure customers, integrate into decision-making processes, and expand into global markets.
It focuses on two priority areas.
By accelerating adoption of space-enabled services, Resilient Earth will unlock new revenue streams, strengthen UK capability, and place trusted environmental intelligence at the heart of economic decision-making, driving resilience and growth.
Barriers
Pilot to Contract Gap
Many businesses successfully demonstrate their technology through pilot projects, but converting these pilots into long-term contracts remains difficult. When business models and value propositions do not align with procurement frameworks, companies struggle to scale their offerings and secure predictable revenue streams.
Client Access & Long-Life Cycles
Small and medium-sized enterprises face complex buyer onboarding processes and extended procurement timelines. These delays restrict market entry and slow revenue growth.Â
Trust in Services
Potential buyers remain uncertain about the performance, reliability, data quality, integration with existing systems, and long-term value of some satellite products and services. This lack of confidence reduces adoption, even where technical capability exists.
Technology Maturation
For many companies, further development and integration are necessary to ensure that their technologies operate reliably at scale and align with real-world operational and regulatory environments in the customer’s business. Without this maturation, businesses can struggle to meet customer expectations and fully commercialise their solutions.
Interventions
Our strategic interventions driving sustainable outcomes through space

Our work across Natural Capital and Traceability aims to embed trusted space enabled monitoring and assurance into nature finance and critical mineral supply chains to overcome the trust, compliance, and procurement barriers that limit market uptake.
Ensuring that policy and financial and industrial demand align with the capabilities of UK businesses will enable the widespread adoption and growth needed to strengthen resilience.
It focuses on two growth markets:

Our Clean Energy and Infrastructure work aims to activate demand for space-enabled monitoring and intelligence across clean energy markets, reducing procurement and operational barriers to adoption. Aligning infrastructure operators’ needs with high-potential UK suppliers will enable these businesses to unlock new markets and accelerate support for UK’s Clean Power Mission.
It focuses on three growth markets:
The Demand
Demand for resilience-focused services is growing rapidly across sectors such as finance and energy, driven by the need to better manage environmental and climate-related risks and tightening regulations. Organisations increasingly require reliable, independently verifiable data to support compliance, reporting, and investment decisions. This is creating new market opportunities for space-enabled monitoring, which can provide consistent, global insights into environmental conditions and resource use.
The UK is well positioned to lead in this emerging market, combining strengths in global financial services with a dynamic space ecosystem, including advanced capabilities in AI and analytics. The UK’s influence in shaping sustainability and data standards, alongside strong international market access and regulatory leadership, provides a clear competitive advantage for UK space businesses developing solutions in areas such as natural capital monitoring and clean energy infrastructure.
How We Support Businesses and Unlock Economic Growth
Our products and services supporting sustainable space applicatins
Innovation to Real-World
The Resilient Earth mission helps turn promising research into practical solutions that businesses and public organisations can actually use. By working closely with end-users we can ensure new technologies are reliable, relevant, and ready for operational environments.
- Develop and test Proofs of Concept in real operational workflows
- Validate performance, reliability, and interoperability in live settings
- Embed commercial thinking early in the R&D process
Scale-up
Resilient Earth provides structured support to help companies grow from early-stage ventures into scalable, investment-ready businesses. The focus is on strengthening commercial models, proving customer demand, and converting pilots into repeatable services.
- Help companies build procurement-ready propositions
- Provide tailored scale-up plans for businesses
- Support the transition from pilot projects to repeatable services
Market Opportunity
The mission actively connects suppliers with buyers and helps organisations move from early interest to large-scale adoption. This ensures that innovations deliver measurable economic and societal impact.
- Help organisations move from single-site pilots to multi-region deployments
- Develop adoption accelerators that expose companies directly to end users
Enabling Ecosystem
Resilient Earth strengthens the wider environment that businesses need in order to grow. By aligning regulators, buyers, suppliers, and skills providers, the mission helps create a more trusted and efficient marketplace for space-enabled services.
- Convene regulators, buyers, and suppliers to align expectations and open new markets
- Build curated communities of buyers and end-users
