SPACE INDUSTRY Informing Skills Training and Education
Would you and your business like a positive say in the development of skills training and education for the future SPACE workforce? Our South Coast Centre of Excellence has the opportunity to make that happen for you.
The South East is home to over 450 space-related companies, employing over 10,000 people. Industrial capabilities cover the full range of activities across space manufacturing, space operations, space applications and ancillary services resulting in a thriving community making significant contributions to the UK economy.
The future of the UK space sector is bright but we need to inspire and train the next-generation of space technologists, scientists and engineers to ensure industry has access to the very best talent. With over 40% of the current workforce due to retire by 2030 we need to urgently invest in training and development to ensure we can keep pace with the sector’s growing needs. Together, employers and colleges can create an industry-ready workforce to secure the future of our sector.
Our South Coast Centre of Excellence has partnered with Skillslabs and FE Colleges across the South Central region who are working with employers to create industry-leading training and who are already working across technology sectors. Together, we are running a series of events, designed to define the regional skills challenges, and to create training and development solutions and opportunities.
We invite you and your business to attend one of our Space Futures events at one of the below locations – click on the title to register:
- Tuesday 20 September at the Isle of Wight College, 10:30 – 12:00
- Thursday 22 September at Fareham College, 10:30 – 12:00
- Wednesday 28 September at Farnborough College, 10:30 – 12:00
After presentations from leading local space businesses, there will be opportunities to network and learn more about skills, and benefit from a first hand experience of the training providers educational space offer.
Following the event, by email, you will be invited to complete an industry skills shortage report which will create an analysis to be presented later in October at the new Digital HUB space at Havant and South Downs College. What a fantastic opportunity we have to develop skills for the future of the SPACE industry.
