IOD-3: Announcement of Opportunity

Demonstrate your new satellite service using a 6U CubeSat


IOD-3 is open for applications! This mission offers a 6U CubeSat platform and launch from the International Space Station (ISS) for an organisation demonstrating a new service capability.

IOD will help you accelerate to ‘proof of concept’ stage by providing low-cost, fast-tracked access to orbit, and a range of operational and business support services to exploit the commercial potential of the mission.

The IOD-3 mission includes:

  • A 6U CubeSat platform from Clyde Space, including integration and testing
  • A launch opportunity from the ISS with NanoRacks*
  • Business support as required, including defining the mission and business case, and developing the commercial potential of the service
  • Operational support throughout the mission

The application review deadline is midday on Thursday 10 January, 2019.

The IOD programme is run by the Satellite Applications Catapult as a collaborative research initiative. Each successful applicant will need to contribute according to the scope and scale of the mission. Support is available to help identify potential sources of funding.

*the launch with NanoRacks from the ISS is via its Space Act Agreement with NASA’s US National Lab.
