Catapult to attend Cereals 2017

By on

As part of their continued commitment to the agricultural sector, the Satellite Applications Catapult will be exhibiting at Cereals 2017 this week.

The event will bring together 25,000 farmers, agronomists and industry for the arable industry?s leading technical event.

Three companies working with the Catapult will be accompanying the team on the Catapult stand (322): Weather Logistics (R&D company specialising in software development solutions and weather forecast consultancy); Inmarsat (leading mobile satellite communications provider); and Farming Online (producer of high spatial and temporal resolution maps of crop type, health and development).

Stuart Martin, CEO, Satellite Applications Catapult, said: “Agri-tech is an important part of our Sustainable Living programme as we believe there are lots of opportunities for satellite technologies to make a greater contribution to food production. We aim to help farmers, agronomists and the wider agriculture sector take full advantage of the wealth of new technologies and data that are available to them.”

Among the agri-tech-related tools that the Catapult will be promoting at Cereals are the use of Sentinel data through the SEDAS open data platform and our online cloud computing environment CEMS (Climate and Environment Monitoring from Space).

President of Inmarsat Enterprise, Paul Gudonis, added: “Agri-tech is one of the key sectors we are focusing on at Inmarsat Enterprise and we are pleased to be at the Cereals event with Satellite Applications Catapult. We will be presenting some new case studies about our work providing IoT-based agritech solutions from the Netherlands to Rwanda, and will be releasing a major piece of research around the uptake of IoT within the sector in the coming weeks.”
