Deadline Extended for European Satellite Navigation Competition

Would you like to win £14,000 and launch your new satellite positioning or location-based business idea?

Would you like to win £14,000 and launch your new satellite positioning or location-based business idea?

The European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) has extended the deadline for applications to 11.00am Monday 6 July 2015.

The competition is looking to back new ideas using satellite positioning, navigation or timing technology by offering cash prizes and bespoke business support to transform ideas into commercial ventures.

The competition is open to individuals, start-ups or established businesses, with the winner of the UK leg receiving œ5,000 plus business support from UK partners including the Satellite Applications Catapult, UK Space Agency, Innovate UK, and leading patent firm Marks & Clerk. The UK winner is then automatically entered into the ESNC Grand Prize with the chance to win an additional £14,000 (EUR 20,000).

Detailed business plans are not required; entrants just need to complete a short application form asking for information on the business case and potential market for the product or service, technical aspects of the idea, and any details on developments to date.

Agri-tech business Intelligent Precision Farming (IPF) won the UK leg in 2014 with their innovative location-based app for recording field observations. Since winning, IPF has been accepted onto the ESA Business Incubation Centre programme. For 2012 winner iGeolise, the competition publicity delivered their first major corporate client for their innovative travel-time software platform that turns distance into time on internet searches.

For further information, visit www.ukesnc.com, or if you would like to discuss your idea or have questions on the application process, please contact the team directly at ukesnc@sa.catapult.org.uk or call on 01235 239637.

The revised deadline is now 11.00am on 6 July 2015.

“If someone’s got two hours free, they should enter the competition, and frankly, if they haven’t got two hours free, they should make two hours!ÿ It will transform their business.”

Peter Lilley, Director iGeolise, Winner of the UK leg of the ESNC in 2012.
