The Satellite Applications Catapult is delighted to be participating in the Royal Institute of Navigation’s three-day conference which takes place in Manchester this week. The event will focus on topics including the Global Navigation and Satellite System (GNSS) and Galileo, indoor positioning, autonomous transport, security and resilience of navigation in the world of cyber-attacks, and new quantum technologies.

Given that the Catapult has identified transport and maritime sectors as two of its main programmes – working with partners in industry, central and regional Government, research councils and academia – the conference will provide an excellent opportunity to build further strategic links with key audiences, both in the UK and internationally.

Within the maritime and transport sectors, hybrid communications and robust positioning and timing are identified by the Catapult as initial focus areas, due to the impact they will have on economic, social and environmental issues.

“As this is the first time this conference has been held in the UK, the Catapult believes it is important to support the navigation community and engage with attendees regarding the integrated transport systems and solutions we are developing to address industrial, political, societal and environmental challenges,” explains Stuart Martin, CEO of the Satellite Applications Catapult.

“The UK Space sector already has significant industrial strengths and interest, including a strong community of developers of the high integrity and high availability software and systems that are necessary for the design, development and operation of systems for which safety is critical. Furthermore, the UK is also strongly engaged in using satellite-based technologies to support the implementation of satellite navigation and communication systems.”

The Catapult is on stand 12 at the exhibition.
