The Satellite Applications Catapult, an independent technology and innovation company, is working with the North East Satellite Applications Centre of Excellence and Satellite Finance Network (SFN), to showcase the potential of satellite applications and the financial opportunities that they could offer to the North East business region. The conference and trade show is taking place at the Xcel Centre, County Durham, on 19 November 2014.
A full day’s agenda has been organised for the event, with speakers from: the Catapult; Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd – the world’s leading small satellite manufacturer; Clyde Space – a pioneer in CubeSat technology; and CGI, a global IT and business process company. The event is free to attend and is aimed at companies that are interested in tapping into new business opportunities in the Space sector or that are currently in the sector and want to gain further insight into the industry.
Stuart Martin, CEO of the Catapult, said: “The event is a ‘must’ for businesses in the North East region, working or interested in the Space sector. Organisations are now, more than ever, aware of the benefits that satellite data and technologies can bring to their businesses, and this one-day event is a great showcase to demonstrate this. Through the line-up of impressive speakers, delegates will gain a real insight into the exploitation and development of new products and services, and, as importantly, where and how to obtain funding if they need it.”
Stuart continued: “The Catapult chose the North East region for one of its Centres of Excellence, due to the business growth potential for the Space industry in this area. The SFN also brings businesses an invaluable insight into how to tap into the funding streams available for businesses throughout the region.”
