Overview:
The Satellite Applications Catapult has developed free open source (FOS) code which can help you process large datasets, such as GeoTIFF image files, more quickly and using computers with less powerful processors.
The FOS library is designed to enable users to work on large geo-referenced imagery with big data frameworks, including certain satellite imagery, quickly and easily. We’ve used the Apache Spark® distributed computing framework to enable users to scale large image processing jobs across many nodes. This means larger files can be processed without upfront capital investment in single large powerful machines.

The IP can be accessed free of charge through the Satellite Applications Catapult’s GitHub called Project Fulgurite.
