The Space Placements in INdustry (SPIN) scheme provides placement opportunities for those considering employment in the space sector and connects space sector organisations who want to find the most talented and enthusiastic people to ensure the future success of their businesses. The scheme is managed by the UK Space Agency and supported by the Satellite Applications Catapult.
The scheme has been running since 2013 and continues to grow in popularity. We always encourage enquiries from potential host organisations who have a short-term project (typically of eight weeks duration), and who would like to offer students the opportunity to gain new skills and an insight into their business.
We welcome applications from registered students from any disciplines who are enthusiastic to work in the space sector and are keen to develop new skills, applying and building on the knowledge they’ve acquired in their studies to date.
Thank you to those who have completed their placement this year and we hope those who are still currently undertaking theirs are enjoying this fantastic opportunity. As you know as part of the SPIN programme you are required to produce a poster on your project to be presented at the SPIN Showcase, indeed it is a key deliverable. This year the Showcase will take place online on 25th November. We intend to upload all of your posters on this page ahead of the Showcase where you will each be required to give the usual 2-minute elevator pitch. – More details to follow.
To help you get some ideas please see some brilliant examples of previous SPINtern posters. As unfortunately this year these won’t be printed and displayed there are no restrictions on size/layout, but remember that the objective behind the activity is to demonstrate your ability to communicate your work professionally.
Please submit these by 16 November to:
Please ensure your host organisations have approved these before submitting to us to ensure they contain no commercially sensitive information.
All summer 2020 Projects are now closed. There are currently no plans for any more placements this year.
