Can the UK build the next billion-dollar space company? In this episode, Dallas is joined by our CEO John Abbott and Thomas Clayson, co-founder and CTO of Magdrive, to explore what it takes to turn world-class space technology into a scalable commercial businesses.
They discuss the UK’s strengths in engineering and research, the lessons SpaceX offers for investment and market validation, and why clearer customer focus, stronger contracts, and better joined-up support are essential for growth. The conversation also examines the role of defence, assured access to space, and the importance of focusing on what happens after launch.
Looking ahead, the guests set out an ambitious vision for a more confident UK space sector – one that backs its strongest companies, converts demonstrations into repeatable business, and creates the conditions for a new generation of globally significant ventures.
