Copernicus Masters

Copernicus Masters

Competition Details

The Copernicus Masters is Europe’s leading innovation competition for new ideas using Earth observation data. The competition is focused around a series of Challenges across business and public services and looks for new solutions using EO data from the Copernicus programme.

The Copernicus programme ensures Earth Observation data from the ESA Sentinel satellites is ‘freely and openly’ available to stimulate the creation of new products and services.

If you are a developer, an entrepreneur or a start-up with an innovative application idea, the Copernicus Masters offers you the chance to accelerate your idea to market. The competition includes exciting topic specific challenges that are being awarded by an array of prominent partners, such as the European Space Agency (ESA), Planet, Airbus & DLR. In 2018, the Catapult is supporting the Data Visualisation challenge.

Prizes include cash, business support and the chance to join Europe’s biggest network of Earth observation experts opening up new opportunities.

Copernicus Masters

Catapult Challenge

The Satellite Applications Catapult in partnership with the UK Space Agency is looking for new solutions that apply data visualisation tools to Copernicus, and other EO, data. Solutions should visualise data in a way that offers an interactive and user-friendly experience for customers. The most compelling solutions will show consideration for the user experience throughout the design process. Solutions should transform geospatial data into actionable information by applying technologies such as AR, VR, 3D modelling, gaming software or any other data visualisation tool to enhance and improve customer interaction with data. Participants are encouraged to explore the integration of Copernicus data with other non-space data sets in the development of their solution, potentially from UAVs, in-situ-sensor networks or customers own data. Submissions can be across any market area, but should be commercially viable and meet genuine customer requirements.
