Facilities for Academia

Access to testing facilities can be difficult, expensive, limited, and often out of reach for long-term projects. That’s why we’ve launched our Facilities for Academia Fund.

This fund gives UK-based academics (PhD level and above) the chance to access our cutting-edge facilities, from advanced testing ranges to specialist labs.

By opening our doors to the academic community, we’re helping researchers accelerate discovery, strengthen collaborations, and drive the next wave of innovation in the UK space sector.

Testimonials

Mick Davidson - Product Delivery Manager, Flare Bright

“The Catapult team’s support has accelerated our ability to deliver certified safety-critical technology, directly contributing to Flare Bright’s commercial readiness and credibility in the drone operations sector.”

David Withers - CEO, Sofrant Technologies

“The Catapult is a brilliant resource for small space sector companies, such as Sofant, who simply would not be able to self-fund such test facilities.”

Dr Anthony Carpenter - Postdoctoral Research Associate, Imperial College London.

“The Drone Test and Development Centre proved to be the ideal location for us to test our novel drone radar system. I look forward to using the sensor test range, as these unique facilities will allow us to further validate our technology and results.”

Thomas Clayson - CTO, Magdrive

“Thanks to support from the SAC, we were able to successfully deliver our first thrusters for launch. Successfully delivering and integrating these thrusters has helped us to complete a recent funding round of £8M, bringing foreign capital into the UK and enabling us to scale up to 30 full-time staff.”
