Who We Are
Our purpose is to grow the UK economy by supporting our best companies to accelerate the invention and adoption of space data and technology. We work closely with businesses to reduce and remove the technical, business development, commercial, financial, or regulatory challenges and barriers that can block their growth.
As one of Innovate UK’s network of nine Catapults, the work we do at the Satellite Applications Catapult aligns with UK government priorities for economic growth. We support our best companies to accelerate the invention and adoption of space data and technology. We work closely with businesses to reduce and remove the technical, business development, commercial, financial, or regulatory challenges and barriers that can block their growth.
What We Do
We focus our activities in three strategic areas
Collaborative R&D
We play key roles in collaborative and commercial R&D projects, often taking risks which other companies are not able or willing to do.
Customer Development
We stimulate market demand for satellite services by bringing together suppliers and end-users in sectors like financial services, communications, transport and agriculture where satellites can make a real difference.
Business Growth
We support businesses in the sector directly with access to facilities, technical experts and help with starting, commercialising and scaling-up a business.
Our three missions, Sustainable Earth, Autonomous and Connected Earth, and Beyond Earth, are high-impact areas where the UK has world-class expertise and align with the government’s priority space capability areas.
