Satellite Applications Catapult

The Satellite Applications Catapult offers paid 8-week summer internships for students who are keen to apply their academic knowledge in a practical, innovation-driven environment.

Interns typically work on live projects aligned to our core focus areas, such as in-orbit servicing, Earth observation, PNT, and downstream applications.

Skills for Space: UK Space Agency

The Skills for Space: UK Space Agency Internships Programme 2026 offers paid, structured 8‑week placements for second‑ and third‑year undergraduate students and second‑year Further Education or tertiary learners.

This flagship initiative is part of UKSA’s Education and Future Workforce strategy, designed to address sector‑wide skills gaps and promote equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Industry Placements

In addition to opportunities at the Satellite Applications Catapult and the UK Space Agency, many organisations across the wider UK space industry offer paid summer internships. These include satellite operators, space technology developers, data and applications companies, consultancies, and research organisations.

Industry placements allow students to experience different parts of the space value chain, develop technical and professional skills, and build networks that can support future career opportunities. Roles vary widely, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of the sector, and may suit students from engineering, science, data, business, policy, and other relevant backgrounds.
