Emerging Technology for Beyond Earth webinar

In the coming decades, emerging technologies will be utilised in significant markets that are today only nascent. As highlighted in the National Space Strategy (NSS), the UK is laying the foundations for leadership in emerging sectors and developing capabilities in Space Travel, Habitation, and In-Situ Resource Utilisation (ISRU).

With other countries demonstrating significant experience in these areas, it is important to explore the role the UK can play in future missions to the Moon, Mars, and asteroids, etc, and other commercial opportunities for the UK, eg delivery of space-based communications and navigation services at the Moon and Mars, and terrestrial spin-offs for healthcare, closed loop recycling, etc.

This webinar will present several concepts on the subject of ‘Emerging Technology for Beyond Earth’, looking into areas such as propulsion, mission analysis/orbit design, environment control and life support systems, power systems, and ISRU. We will explore the technological developments for the space sector and look at any terrestrial benefits of these emerging technologies. A panel will discuss and debate the opportunities and challenges. Participants are also invited to pitch a single slide lightning talk on a concept relating to Space-enabled net zero for discussion and debate.
